Mr. B's Park News April 30, 2009

All of us here at Mr. B's Park had a wonderful time with all of ya'll during our "Spring Into Bluegrass" Festival. Bluegrassers never cease to amaze me with their kindness, togetherness and general sense of fun. As usual (even though we are tired) everyone of you managed to make us laugh until our jaws ache.

We have breakfast or coffee together for a few days afterwards and compare stories and jokes that ya'll tell us and each one of us has a great giggle again. To tell you in all honesty we needed that.  It had been such a long and depressing winter with the news and media, the opppertunity to chat and visit with the salt of the earth (which ya'll are) really picked up OUR spirits.

I am lookin' forward to you tuning in for BluegrassTV.tv on the 5th of May 7 - 9 pm.  I am more nervous than ever, but I know that the ones that will be watching are the same great people that I just spent the following weekend with. If you get a chance, log on, watch and tell us what you think.

Until then, Take Care and keep Bluegrassin'!

Karen-Ann

Mr. B's Park News March 13, 2009

What a amazeing time we had at Kathy and Earl's Cabin Fever Pickin' Party last weekend.  They had some awesome bands, great "hallway" pickin, Gary's Night Owls was great as always and everyone had a wonderful time. It was a wonderful escape from the winter snow here at Mr. B's Park. We ended up with almost 9 inches of snow by Monday afternoon, that quickly turned into 6 inches of mud on Wednesday when it melted. We got to spend time with alot of ya'll like, Doug Crabtree (isn't he a awesom soundman), Dorsey Hostetter (ya'll check his show out at www.wlur.wlu.edu) Ted Jones and The Tarheel Boys, Kody Norris and The Watauga Mountain Boys, Mark Templeton and Pocket Change, Sweet Brenda & Him. Not to forget Milford Station (they tell me the new CD is Due out in about a month), The Sargent Famiy, Some Assembly Required (congrats on the new CD), Bill Yates, Hazel & Ken Bohlin, Sharon Silver, Kyle Miller, Sterlin Belcher (soon to be a grand-daddy congrats Larry & Dreema), John Hutchinson, Bill & Linda Hale and the list goes on and on. I sat down and laughed so hard with Mike Banton on Saturday evening I was crying and my jaws ached.

Well we are just under 36 days until we open the gates here for our April "Spring Into Bluegrass Festival" and there is so much to be done. We have had to put in a few more hook-ups so ya'll can stay comfortable here at your home away from home. We are starting to de-winterize all the buildings and start cleaning, yard work, housework, officework, but it is ALL well worth it because it's BLUEGRASS FESTIVAL SEASON AGAIN!

Now that brings me to something I can't wait to tell ya'll. We have a SURPRISE waiting here at Mr. B's Park for ALL OF YA'LL. Now here is the problem for me.  I have to keep it under wraps until ya'll get here. Now mind you that is no easy task for me. I think it is something that you will enjoy, GOD knows that I will. We have prayed over this for some time and I am 'bout to go absoultely crazy just waiting to tell you. But I have to wait. So do me a personal favor, start spring cleaning the campers, get them and the car loaded up and hurry up and get here before Dad (Mr. B) has to sit on me to keep me still and quiet.

Gotta' run and get back at it, but ya'll take care and I'll be watching the gate for ya'

Karen-Ann

Mr. B's Park News November 17, 2008

Well thanks to all of you we have successfully completed our 2008 season here at Mr. B's Park. You would think that would give us some time off....but No.  We are already working on projects for 2009. First of all the line-up for our April "Spring Into Bluegrass" festival is complete and the Flyer and Tickets are now available. Make sure you get yours soon.

We hope that all of you are well and have a great winter, especailly with the holidays coming.  As always we will keep each of you in our thoughts and prayers. We made so many happy memories with ya'll this year. Saturday night at the end of the August Festival I was almost in tears, knowing that it wouldn't be until April 'til we saw alot of ya'll.  But our email addresses are posted on this site and we love to hear from you. Please drop us a line when you can or email us any picutes from the 2008 season so we may add them to our online photo albums.

On a personal bright note.....October the 14, 2008 Frankie and Me (Karen-Ann) got married.  Just the preacher, Frankie and myself, here in the front yard next to the concret bench that my brother made many years ago.  We managed to get away for the day and drive along skyline drive.  We call it our Bluegrass honeymoon since we stopped at McCormick overlook (mom's maiden name) Big Meadows just above Graves Mountain and Dark Hollow...(didn't walk down to the falls though....i had on heels).  Then dinner at Skyland and back home to go to work the next day.

Time for me to go and get back to work....make sure you sign up for our Emails and tell your friend to do the same. That way you get all the info as soon as it is available.

Mr. B and the rest of the family are keeping each of you our prayers that God continue to bless you, as HE has us by letting us know you, the fans of bluegrass. HAPPY THANKSGIVING.

Mr. B's Park News September 3, 2008

Now that Mr. B and the rest of the family have had a short but well deserved Labor Day Vacation we wanted to let all off ya'll know what a wonderful time we had "Bluegrassing" with all of you this season. Twice ya'll came and had some great time with us at our April "Spring Into Bluegrass Festival" and August "Bluegrass Blowout Festival" and at both we made new friends and met up with some old friends and we hoped that ya'll did too!

But the Fun isn't Done here at Mr. B's Park, actually far from it. Now we are gearing up for our first ever Mr. B's "Autumn & Art Festival" September 27 & 28, 2008.  Admission to the Park is free with plenty of Bluegrass Music, Crafts, Food, Pumpkins, Jellies & Jams, Family and Childrens Activites and list goes on. Not to forget the Chamber's Crab Feast, Pawtastic's Dog Day Festival and Halloween Haunted Trails & Tail Gate Trick-or-Treating with the 'Friends of the Ladysmith Library'.

We hope that ya'll come visit us during one of those events but if not we will see ya'll somewhere soon "Bluegrassing" or at many other local and state community events.

Ya'll Take Care!

Mr. B's Park News June 24, 2008

Well summer is officially kicked off Saturday, June 21, and Mr. B's Park spent the first day with their "Summer Shindig" Festival. Headlining for the show was the hardest workin' man in country music, Aaron Tippin. As well as five other opening bands. The park was decorated with several flags of Ol' Glory around the park and stage.

The unmistakable highlight of the show was when
Aaron Tippin assembled a bike on stage while performing “Working Man’s PH.D” , and donated it to a Marine in full dress blues for Toys for Tots. Needless to say the entire audience was on their feet applauding not only the donation of a bike, but the love felt for their country and armed services.

After the show Aaron Tippin took pictures with fans and signed autographs until all that were in line went home smiling. He spent particular time with his young fans, and those who serve are military that were in attendance. Two service men folded and presented Aaron with an American Flag, which truly touched his heart as an American. He was overheard wishing them well in their calls to duty and informing them of his future USO tour in the middle east.

Now Mr. B and the rest of the family have a little time to enjoy a family picnic over the fourth of July weekend. Maybe even get a little time to fish in the pond. But right after that it is back to work to get the park ready for our “Summer Blowout” Festival, August 21, 22, 23, 2008. A show you don’t want to miss. Make sure you check out our line up with Bobby Osborn, Dailey & Vincent, Steep Canyone Rangers, The Lewis Family and many more.

Mr. B’s Park hopes all of ya’ll have a fun and safe Fourth of July. When you see Ol’ Glory flying remember to think of our troops, what is means to be Free and God Bless America!

............................................................................................................

Monday February 25, 2008 starts with a long TO-DO List.  Frankie and Karen-Ann walked the grounds yesterday, checking flower beds, pavilions, and the out buildings to start getting ready for company.  They noticed that spring is starting to bloom in the flower beds (see picture and insert to the right), and have quite a few ideas for new flowers around the updated entrance and Gate House.

This year you will be greeted by Mrs. B in her updated space at the Gate house.  "It's really cute with the cottage window and new flower beds"   The design plan of Karen-Ann is a few window boxes with a dramatic look.  But the truth be told, the flower gardens that are aren't right in the front yard of  the house, are 90 % Frankie's doings. So when you get here let us know what you think of the changes. (Mrs. B, Frankie, Karen-Ann)
